B&B LUGGLA

An ancient story of farmers and miners.... Now, a welcoming refuge in the peaceful mountain landscape.

Predoi - South Tyrol

History and curiosities of our beloved B&B

Originally built as a dwelling for workers on the farm above,  this once stone house has a centuries-old history; it was also inhabited by miners from the nearby copper mine.

Owned by the Hofer family , for decades it has witnessed the  passage of an infinite quantity of minerals, expertly sought in the mountains surrounding the town.  Many of these minerals were so beautiful and precious that they became part of collections and museums.

The house has undergone several modifications and expansions (the last around 1980 ), while maintaining its original structure virtually intact. For example, the small adjacent stable was physically joined to the main house over time.

We bought it in 2019  and began a long and meticulous restoration project, with the aim of keeping its history and identity alive, hoping we have succeeded.

The creation of this B&B  was born from our love for this house, for this land that welcomed us, and from our desire to share our mountains and our home with our guests.

Why "LUGGLA"?

Ours is a small farm, the " LUGLER " farm. A secondary farm, a satellite, if you will, of a larger farm. Originally, it consisted of the main house, with a tiny stable attached, and a barn above it. It had no land, or rather, a mountain pasture used for mowing in the summer.

"Luggla" is nothing more than the dialectal translation of "LUGLER"

No one knows the origin of this name, various hypotheses have been reported to us, all quite suggestive.

We chose  "LUGGLA"  to keep alive the name that has always represented this house!
